Thane: At least 12 people ransacked the Badlapur office of a former corporator and tried to attack one of his staffers with a sword Saturday evening over some previous enmity, the police said, adding that the employee ducked and escaped unhurt.
The mob entered the office of Rohit Mhadik of Bharatiya Janata Party, a former councillor of Badlapur-Kulgaon Municipal Council. Around 10.30 pm, two people were in the office when a dozen or so people, most of them unidentified, barged in, the police said, adding that some of them vandalised the office using swords. An office employee, Krishna Gupta, confronted the intruders, trying to block their entry using a chair. The incident has been captured in the CCTV at the office.
Senior inspector Ramesh Patil of Shivaji Nagar police station, Badlapur, said that their preliminary probe points to some old rivalry.
A case has been filed against 12 people, with only two identified as Ashutosh Karale alias Dakya (23) and Ghani Rafiq Sheikh (25).
