New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl from Jharkhand who was a victim of human trafficking was rescued by Delhi Police’s Crime Branch from northwest Delhi’s Rani Bagh recently. The girl was brought to the city under the false promise of employment and was later found in distressing conditions.
According to police, the case was registered after the girl’s father filed a complaint in Jharkhand. On March 1, an FIR was lodged at the Rai Deeh police station in Gumla, Jharkhand.
“Following the complaint, officials from Jharkhand govt and rescue organisations, including Mission Mukti Foundation and Rescue Foundation, approached Delhi’s anti-human trafficking unit to track and recover the minor who was believed to be in a distressing situation,” DCP (Crime Branch) Vikram Singh said.
“A special police team was formed and the girl was rescued from Rani Bagh,” Singh added.
The victim was medically examined and will be produced before the child welfare committee for further assistance and rehabilitation, police said. Further investigation is on.
