Palghar: Two girls studying in a govt residential school were admitted to hospital for a couple of days due to swelling in their legs and severe body ache. The class IV students were made to do sit-ups by their teacher as punishment for not completing their homework.
An inquiry has been initiated into this incident and officers from the Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) visited the school on Sunday.
According to a school official, most of the class was punished, however, the two students had swelling in their legs the next day. He also confirmed that they received treatment for two days and then were handed over to their parents.
“We send our kids to the govt residential school for education, but this is not acceptable and the teacher behind this should be punished,” said the mother of one of the students.
