NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up to unveil its much-anticipated Parenting Calendar for the 2025-26 academic session on March 28, 2025, at 4:00 PM IST. This innovative initiative, set to be streamed live on CBSE’s official YouTube channel, aims to revolutionize the collaboration between parents and schools, fostering a supportive ecosystem for students’ holistic development.
The Parenting Calendar is a strategic move by CBSE to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing stronger parent-teacher partnerships and addressing the evolving needs of students. With a focus on mental health, emotional well-being, and academic growth, the calendar is designed to bridge communication gaps and provide a structured framework for parental involvement. It will cater to diverse student groups, including adolescents and children with special needs (CWSN), tackling critical issues like exam stress, behavioral transitions, and key educational milestones.
The development of this calendar began in January 2025 when CBSE formed a 10-member committee consisting of school principals and education experts. The committee, chaired by Anuradha Joshi, Principal of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Delhi, included representatives from institutions such as Podar Education Network in Mumbai and Vasant Valley School in Delhi. Along with Joshi, the committee members were Dr. Swati Popat Vats, President of Podar Education Network, Mumbai; Rekha Krishnan, Principal of Vasant Valley School, Delhi; Manju Arif, Principal of Delhi Public School, Bangalore North; Dr. Nivedita Ganguly, Principal of DAV International School, Ahmedabad; Minakshi Kushwaha, Principal of Birla Vidya Niketan, Delhi; Richa Agnihotri, Principal of Sanskriti School, Delhi; Annie Koshy, Principal of St. Mary’s School, Delhi; Dr. Paramjit Singh, Principal of Army Public School, Ambala Cantt; and Dr. Diganta Haldar, Principal of Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, Guwahati, Assam. After months of virtual and in-person deliberations, the panel submitted its final recommendations on March 15, 2025, paving the way for tomorrow’s launch.
The calendar will feature planned activities such as parent-teacher meetings, workshops, and orientations, offering parents practical tools and guidelines to stay engaged in their child’s educational journey. A significant highlight is its emphasis on mental health awareness, equipping parents and educators to support students through challenges like anxiety and peer pressure.
Education experts have hailed this initiative as a timely step toward inclusive education. “The Parenting Calendar will empower parents to play an active role while ensuring schools provide consistent support,” said a CBSE spokesperson. Expected outcomes include enhanced student well-being, improved academic performance, and a more cohesive school-home dynamic.
Strengthening Parent-Teacher Partnerships
This framework aims to strengthen the partnership between parents and teachers, which is essential for the academic and personal growth of students. By fostering a closer working relationship, it encourages mutual involvement in the educational journey, creating a more supportive and transparent environment for students.
Promoting Open Dialogue
One of the key objectives of this framework is to promote open dialogue between parents and teachers. This ongoing communication ensures that both parties are well-informed about the student’s progress and can address any concerns in a timely manner, further supporting the student’s development.
Enhancing Student Outcomes for Holistic Development
By focusing on the overall development of students, this framework helps enhance their academic performance while also nurturing their emotional, social, and personal growth. A holistic approach ensures that students not only excel in their studies but also thrive in other aspects of life.
Fostering Collaborative Relationships
By implementing this calendar, schools can expect to foster stronger, more collaborative relationships between parents and students. These relationships create a foundation of trust and mutual respect, which is vital for a student’s success.
Ensuring Consistent Communication
The calendar helps ensure consistent communication between parents, teachers, and students. This ongoing interaction enables a cohesive support system, where everyone involved is aligned in their efforts to support the student’s well-being and academic progress.
As the launch approaches, anticipation is high among educators and parents alike. With its debut set for tomorrow, the CBSE Parenting Calendar promises to mark a new chapter in India’s educational landscape, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in shaping the next generation.
