New Delhi: The BJP’s Delhi unit marked the party’s foundation day with a vibrant celebration at its headquarters. This occasion held special significance as, after 27 years, the party has returned to power in Delhi.
State president Virendra Sachdeva, chief minister Rekha Gupta, MPs, ministers and various prominent functionaries attended the gathering at the party office. They hoisted the flag, congratulated workers and felicitated employees working at the state office.
Party President Virendra Sachdeva said, “Our journey began in 1980, and it is the result of the hard work, dedication, and determination of millions of workers that today the BJP is the largest political party in the world.” He added, “We are fortunate to be working in a party that has given u the charismatic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the patient leadership of party national president JP Nadda.”
He mentioned that NDA govts are there in 21 states, and Delhi is the 13th state where the BJP formed a govt with a full majority. “The party is progressing continuously, and it is our duty to make the lotus bloom in every city of India,” he said.
Chief minister Rekha Gupta said: “BJP workers are engaged in the nation’s work. Their hard before the Delhi Assembly elections resulted in the formation of a BJP govt in Delhi after 27 years. We always put the nation first, the party second, and ourselves last. We are working for the progress of the country, and govt will work for the welfare of every section of society, implementing the party’s principles.”
She added, “We are working for the social uplift and prosperity of Delhi. The guidance given by our mentors to work for society is what motivates us today. We will continue our efforts to make India a global leader and transform Delhi into a developed city.”
BJP MP from south Delhi Ramvir Singh Bidhuri called upon party workers to act as a bridge between the new BJP govt of Delhi and the public. “A big responsibility has fallen on them to fulfil the promises made in the BJP manifesto,” he said. “It is very important that the benefits of the budget of Rs 1 lakh crore presented for Delhi by chief minister Rekha Gupta reach the people.”
Later in the day, party national president JP Nadda met 98-year-old senior party worker and former mayor Shakuntala Arya, along with others at her residence in Lajpat Nagar. Nadda honoured her by draping her with a party scarf and offering a shawl and sought her blessings by touching her feet. He then hoisted the party flag at her residence.
