CBSE workshop enhances teachers’ pedagogical skills – The Tribune

Lawrence School, Sanawar, organised a CBSE capacity building training programme aimed at enhancing teachers’ professional skills in key pedagogical areas. The programme, which took place throughout March, saw the active participation of over 130 educators.

The first session focused on classroom management, where expert trainers Neetu Jhatta and Sangeeta shared practical strategies for maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment. They offered insights into behaviour management, student engagement and the creation of inclusive learning spaces.

Another session on experiential learning explored Kolb’s model of experiential learning. Led by Gosha Liberhan and Ram Kumar Sharma, teachers delved into Kolb’s four key aspects: concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation and active experimentation. The workshop combined interactive discussions, group activities, chart-making and presentations to deepen participants’ understanding of how to implement experiential learning in the classroom.

A session on gender sensitivity was led by Vega Sharma and Manu Tanwar Rohil, focusing on various aspects such as gender roles, gender relations, gender gap and gender discrimination. Through real-life anecdotes, enthusiastic participants reiterated their commitment to ending gender discrimination in schools.

The resource persons made the sessions engaging and insightful, incorporating wit, humour and ice-breaking activities to maintain an energetic learning atmosphere. Teachers actively participated in group exercises and exchanged innovative ideas on integrating experiential learning techniques into their teaching practices.

Himmat Singh Dhillon, headmaster of Lawrence School, Sanawar, stated, “Such training programmes will go a long way in equipping teachers with invaluable tools and strategies to create more engaging, hands-on learning experiences for their students.”
