The Chaitra Navratra fair began at the Mata Chintpurni temple in Una district with religious fervour today. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, who is also the Chairman of the Chintpurni Temple Trust, said the shrine area has been divided into four sectors, each under the control of a Sector Magistrate and a Sector Police Officer to maintain law and order.
The DC said CCTV cameras have been installed at various locations to monitor the crowd and keep a tab on anti-social elements. He said emergency health facilities will be provided to the needy at the Chintpurni government hospital, adding that one additional health post each has been set up by the Health Department and Ayush Department near the shrine.
People or organisations wanting to put up ‘langars’ along the Mubarikpur to Bharwain road will have to take prior permission and will be responsible for maintaining proper sanitation at the sites, said the DC, adding that use of plastic bags will be strictly prohibited. Besides, he said offering coconut at the shrine will remain banned during the mela period in view of security reasons.
