Palghar: A couple who had gone to Kelwe beach for the weekend were in for a shock when they returned home on Sunday to find the main door of their home opened. They were even more shocked to catch two theieves who had ransacked their home about to feel with goods worth approximately Rs 12 lakh.
In his complaint, 27-year-old Hitesh Chauhan said that he tried to catch one of the thieves, however, the accused assualted him and escaped initially, while his wife Kajal attempted to catch hold of the other thief. “My wife Kajal entered the house first and tried to catch one theif and retrieve the bag that contained her gold ornamemts, however, he attacked her with a hammer and fled.”
The duo alerted their neighbours by calling out for help. The neighbours managed to nab one of the thieves who was identified as Roy Joseph Fernandes, while the one who escaped with the gold ornaments has been identified as Rohit Jadhav. Palghar senior police inspector Ananta Parad said Fernandes has been detained, and the hunt for Jadhav is currently on.
