CSK Playing 11 vs Delhi Capitals- IPL 2025, Match 17

Chennai Super Kings will take on the Delhi Capitals in the 17th match of IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both teams have had a contrasting start to the tournament, with DC winning back-to-back games. CSK, on the other hand, has lost consecutive matches

Chennai Super Kings are languishing at the bottom half of the points table with losses against RCB and RR after putting on a strong show in the first match, courtesy of a complete team effort.

DC has made a strong statement following their win over SRH after starting the tournament with a come-from-behind win against LSG in their season opener. The Axar Patel-led side would hope to deliver another comprehensive performance against CSK

This article provides the details of the playing 11 of the Chennai Super Kings for the match against DC scheduled to be played on Saturday, April 05, at 3:30 PM IST.

CSK Playing 11 vs Delhi Capitals- IPL 2025, Match 17:

Openers: Rachin Ravindra and Rahul Tripathi

Rachin Ravindra will open with Rahul Tripathi in the Chennai vs Delhi match. Tripathi would like to play a match-winning innings in the upcoming game following his failure to guide the team home in the last match against RR

Rachin, on the other hand, would like to get back to the form that he was in against the Mumbai Indians in the first match and would look to score another half-century in the clash against DC.

A lot will depend on how the Chennai Super Kings’ openers play in the first six overs of the match, considering they have failed to make full use of the fielding restrictions in the tournament so far.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (wk), Jamie Overton

The opening duo of Ravindra and Tripathi will be followed by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube, both of whom will play an integral part in the encounter due to their ability to play well against spin.

One of the areas of concern for Chennai Super Kings in the game would be their middle order comprising Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, and MS Dhoni, who failed to chase a target of 183 runs against RR and would like to redeem themselves in the upcoming match.

Bowlers: Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Matheesha Pathirana, Khaleel Ahmed

CSK would hope their bowlers and fielders put up a better show in the CSK vs DC clash on Saturday, as they did against MI in their season opener by restricting them below the score of 160 on a tricky wicket at Chepauk.

The responsibility to restrict Delhi to a below-par total will be on the spin trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Noor Ahmed, who will be supported by the fast bowlers Khaleel Ahmed and Jamie Overton.

Khaleel has been the standout bowler for CSK along with Noor Ahmad, and the duo has picked up crucial wickets for the team during the powerplay and in the middle overs.

Having said that, they haven’t got much support from other bowlers, and that is one of the reasons Chennai has not been able to restrict the opposition as far as run-scoring in the final five overs is concerned
