New Delhi: South Delhi Police busted a notorious “drugs-at-doorsteps” racket, arresting a key accused and seizing a substantial quantity of high-end narcotics. The racket, which operated under the guise of legitimate porter services, delivered drugs to customers’ doorsteps across South Delhi, Gurgaonand Noida.
The arrested accused was identified as Vishal Singh. Also known as Bunty to his clients, he was operating with a Nigerian drug gang, supplying high-end drugs, such as MDMA and cocaine.
The gang devised a clever plan to deliver drugs to customers’ doorsteps using porter services. They packed the drugs in small parcels and hired porters to deliver them to customers. This method made it difficult for law enforcement agencies to track the supply chain, or so they thought.
This module reportedly catered specifically to the demands of their clientele, limiting their offerings to just three drugs. This targeted approach likely allowed them to maximise their profits while minimising risks like excess inventory, sources said.
“Vishal, a 29-year-old former taxi driver, came into contact with a few Nigerian drug suppliers through another taxi driver, Aakash, who was arrested in 2024,” said DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan. To earn easy money, Vishal started delivering drugs, earning Rs 1,000 per delivery. After Aakash’s arrest, Vishal took on more drug supply tasks.
On the night of April 3, a team comprising ACP Abhinendra Jain and inspector Umesh Yadav received a tip-off about a drug delivery in the Saket area. They laid a trap and intercepted Vishal, who was carrying 30gm of cocaine and 5gm of MD crystals on his motorcycle. Vishal was arrested, and the contraband substances were seized. The police are now investigating to trace the supply chain and identify other operatives involved in the racket.
The initial probe revealed that orders were being placed by clients via WhatsApp calls and chats. The number of the dealers was given through reference and word of mouth. “The foreigner (from Nigeria) would receive orders and then pass on the message to his associate (Vishal) to deliver the drugs to the buyer,” said an officer.
