New Delhi: Foreign-based gangster Rashid Cablewala denied demanding protection money from an east Delhi businessman, making the plot murkier. He also denied sending shooters to fire at the businessman’s house, claiming this was a smokescreen.
In a social media post on Sunday, Cablewala said the firing incident at the victim’s house was ‘staged’, a theory which a section of cops from the special cell earlier floated. The businessman went to Dubai after an FIR was registered.
The role of some policemen is under the scanner in this case, and the probe has been transferred to the crime branch. The special cell wanted to take up this probe, but it didn’t go to them because of the fiasco in the Nadir Shah murder case coming to light. The special cell cops are in the dock for their role in that case.
Crime branch cops said they are trying to catch the shooter who opened fire at the complainant’s house. He was last spotted boarding a bus from ISBT. Police have seized the vehicle used by the shooters.
The businessman received a threat call demanding Rs 4 crores on March 11, and days later, assailants fired at his house, prompting him to approach the cops. A mystery cop offered to settle the case, it was alleged.
