In a bid to ensure smooth procurement and lifting of wheat during the ongoing wheat season, Hafed Managing Director (MD) Mukul Kumar on Saturday visited the Karnal grain market to review the arrangements. During his visit, he interacted with arhtiyas and farmers to take stock of the ongoing procurement process and address concerns.
He directed the officials present there to make sure that there were no delays or complications in the procurement and lifting of wheat. “There should be no inconvenience to farmers at any stage. Timely lifting of the procured wheat must be ensured,” he stressed.
The MD instructed procurement agencies and officials to focus particularly on lifting operations to avoid any disruption for the farmers and the traders. “The government is committed to purchasing every single grain of the farmers’ produce. Comprehensive arrangements have been made for it,” he added.
Kumar first reviewed the gate pass system at the entry point of the market and instructed the staff on duty. He later examined the crop purchase process and instructed officials to carry out procurement in a transparent and efficient manner.
He emphasised the need for cleanliness, availability of clean drinking water and proper basic amenities in the mandi. Kumar further directed the procurement agencies and officials to ensure wheat was procured at the minimum support price (MSP).
“Officers must prioritise a hassle-free experience for the farmers while they sell their crops. The procurement process must be smooth, transparent and punctual,” he said. He reiterated Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s directives that any lapse in procurement or lifting would not be tolerated at any cost.
“The government has made full arrangements to procure every grain of the farmer’s produce. No negligence in this regard will be acceptable,” he asserted.
