Ishan Kishan loses sight of ball during match vs PBKS

The 27th match of the 2025 IPL is underway at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, as Punjab Kings (PBKS) won the toss and elected to bat first. PBKS went unchanged, while Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made a change, bringing in Eshan Malinga in place of Kamindu Mendis.

The match began with high drama, where SRH handed the new ball to Mohammed Shami, while PBKS opened with Prabhsimran Singh and youngster Priyansh Arya. From the second ball of the innings, chaos came into the game. Shami bowled a length delivery outside off, which Prabhsimran drove straight past the bowler for what looked like an easy couple. However, the fielding was sloppy from Ishan Kishan, who surprisingly failed to spot the ball even though it was right beside him.

Adding to the drama, the third umpire spotted a short run, the batter failed to ground his bat while completing the second run. As a result, only a single was added to the scoreboard. It was a dramatic start for an intense contest.

Despite the confusion, PBKS came out with all guns blazing. They raced to 66 runs in just four overs, maintaining a run rate of 16.5. The opening pair laid a solid foundation before Priyansh Arya, after a fiery 36 off 13 balls, fell to Harshal Patel, caught by Nitish Kumar Reddy. Prabhsimran Singh continued the assault with an aggressive 28 off just 13 balls and was joined at the crease by skipper Shreyas Iyer.

PBKS have won three out of their four matches so far in the season, and are riding high on confidence. SRH have had a disappointing start, with just one win from five matches. Playing at home, SRH will look to turn their fortunes around in front of their fans and put up a strong fight against the in-form Punjab side.
