NEW DELHI: In response to the BJP’s claims that the violence in Murshidabad was “state-sponsored, state-protected, and state-encouraged targeted violence against Hindus,” RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha responded by saying that maintaining social harmony in the country is a joint responsibility of both the central and state governments.
Speaking to media, Jha criticised the BJP for repeatedly bringing up the issue of “targeted violence” against Hindus. “Kitni jagah ye card kheloge, ghis chuka hai. The time has come for PM Modi to break his silence. The country’s social country is responsibility of Centre and all state governments because if country will remain, then only there will be elections and parties would win and lose them,” he remarked.
Jha condemned the violence in Murshidabad and called the incident “unfortunate,” while appealing for peace and non-violence.
“Whatever is happening is unfortunate. This should not happen. On behalf of my party, I will request everyone to have a peaceful resistance. Let us follow the path shown by Gandhiji. The matter is in court. My party is also a petitioner… We know that injustice done due to the misinterpretation of Article 26 will be addressed. I believe that Mamata Banerjee led TMC government will control this” Jha said.
The RJD MP also expressed hope that the West Bengal government would take appropriate steps to bring the situation under control.
