New Delhi: A 25-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for demanding extortion money worth Rs 13 crore from a YouTuber in northwest Delhi’s Bawana.
According to police, the case came to light when a complaint was registered. “The complainant said that on April 9, while he was at Sector-1, Bawana for some work, he received a call around 8.27 pm from an unknown number. The caller introduced himself as Vishal, also known as Katiya, and claimed to be a notorious criminal. He told the complainant that he was aware of the property inherited by his wife—specifically referencing her share of 12 killa land, and claimed that one killa was worth Rs 35 crore,” DCP (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan said.
The caller then demanded Rs 13 crore as extortion money and threatened to kill the complainant if the demand wasn’t met police said.
Police used surveillance and intelligence to trap Vishal, recovering the mobile phone used for making the extortion call from his possession.
Further investigation is underway.
