New Delhi: A 45-year-old man, who works in a telecom company in Gurgaon, was critically injured after he jumped from the building of the Mayur Vihar Phase-1 metro station on Monday.
Witnesses said that while efforts from the fire brigade personnel, metro station staff and CISF personnel to save and convince the man were underway, he jumped from the railing towards the road. The man was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for treatment and later referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for further care, police said.
During a search of the injured individual, the cops found a mobile phone, a paper with contact numbers, a metrocard, and Rs 1,370 in cash. A family member later arrived at the hospital.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation employees said the man was noticed dangling from the station wall towards the roadside around 12:40 pm. “The on-duty station staff immediately informed the emergency services. The rescue teams, including Delhi Police, fire brigade, CISF, Delhi Metro Rail Police and station staff, attempted to rescue the person. However, around 1:40 pm, the person jumped onto the road below,” said Anuj Dayal, principal executive director, corporate communications, DMRC.
