A Nepalese national was murdered in Theog subdivision, Shimla, on Wednesday allegedly by another Nepali worker with a sharp weapon.
The deceased has been identified as Sushil, while the accused, Paras Ram, is currently absconding.
According to a complaint filed by Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Juggo village in Theog, he had hired Paras about 15 days ago to work in his orchards and had provided him accommodation in a shed near his residence.
On March 31, Paras informed Kumar that he was going to Theog market for some work. However, on April 2, while Kumar was on his way to his orchard, he saw an unconscious man covered in blood. Upon closer inspection, he realised that the person was died. When Kumar attempted to contact Paras, he found that he was missing.
Kurmar alleged that Paras, possibly under the influence of alcohol, had murdered Sushil before fleeing the scene.
Acting swiftly, a police team reached the crime scene, recovered the body, and collected crucial evidence. The body was sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Theog, Siddharth Sharma, confirmed the incident and said a case has been registered under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the accused, he said.
