Former India captain Sourav Ganguly talked about his favourite IPL team and cricketers from the younger lot during a recent conversation. Ganguly revealed names of multiple teams to be his favourites and included Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans.
Among the experienced bunch of players, Ganguly opined that someone like MS Dhoni, who is also captaining the Chennai Super Kings, can never be written off no matter how bad a situation his team may be in.
“It is difficult to say who will win because anyone can win in T20, but there are good teams. Sunrisers (Hyderabad), Delhi Capitals, we can never write off MS Dhoni, no matter how old he is. Chennai Super Kings, Bombay (Mumbai Indians), it is a good team. Gujarat always surprises, in the first two years, they won with a weak team, Shubman Gill is also in good form but Hardik Pandya used to make a lot of difference for them, he is not there, so I find these four teams very strong,” Ganguly said on YouTube channel YourFoodLab during an interaction with Chef Sanjyot Keer.
The Kolkata-born also talked bout how defending champions KKR look slightly weak with the absence of some great players like Shreyas Iyer, Mitchell Starc and Philip Salt who are giving some incredible performances in IPL 2025 after being released by the three-time champions.
“KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) look slightly weak since last year because Phil Salt, Shreyas Iyer, and Mitchell Starc are not there, all three were important players in their team, they are not there,” the former cricketer added.

Tilak Verma and Jasprit Bumrah from Mumbai Indians were also among the players.
“A lot, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Sanju Samson of Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai left-hander Tilak Verma, Bumrah is forever, (favourite) Jake Fraser-McGurk and KL Rahul from Delhi Capitals. He (McGurk) was there with us last year, he was superb last year,” the legendary cricketer concluded.
