The junior category competitions of the fourth NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) National Archery Competition, held at Arni University in the Indora area of Kangra district, concluded on Monday.
A total of 34 male and female archers from across the country participated in the sub-junior, junior and senior categories, aiming to improve their national rankings. In the women’s compound competition, Ekta Rani of Haryana won gold, Vaidehi Hirachandra of Maharashtra secured silver and Drishti of Delhi earned bronze. In the men’s compound archery, Sachin Chechi of Rajasthan took gold, Mohit Dogar of Haryana won silver and Sukhmandeep Singh of Punjab claimed bronze.
In women’s recurve, Vaishnavi Mahesh Kulkarni of Maharashtra won gold, Manaswari Hardek of Odisha secured silver and Jeona Kumar of Chandigarh took bronze. In the men’s recurve competition, Sohan Sharad of Maharashtra won gold, Dhananjay Roy of West Bengal earned silver and Ujjwal Bharat of Maharashtra received bronze.
Dr Vivek Singh, Chancellor of Arni University, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. The ceremony was also graced by International Referee and Organising Secretary Pradeep Sharma, who represented India in the Commonwealth Games, Senior Vice President of Himachal Pradesh Archery Association Colonel VK Patial and General Secretary Raghunath Rana.
Dr Vivek Singh honoured the medal winners, presenting them with medals, university souvenirs and cheques of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,500 and Rs 6,000 for the first, second and third place holders, respectively.
