Police seize 46gm heroin – The Tribune

In a significant crackdown on inter-state heroin smuggling, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Solan police seized 46 gm of heroin from a car parked inside a hotel in Barog last evening.

Confirming the bust, Solan SP Gaurav Singh stated that the SIU team acted on a tip-off and raided a brown car with a Haryana registration number (HR 26BV-1086). Inside the vehicle, they found 26-year-old Ravi Kumar, a resident of Phillaur tehsil, Jalandhar district, in possession of the contraband. Along with the heroin, the police also seized Rs 8,000.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Ravi Kumar was in the process of selling the drugs when he was caught. A case has been registered against him under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Dharampur police station. He was produced in court on Wednesday as the police sought his remand to further probe the matter.

Authorities are now tracing the backward and forward linkages of this case to identify the larger network involved in heroin smuggling. This is the biggest heroin seizure of the year for Dharampur police.
