NEW DELHI: Delhi Police inaugurated ‘Akshee The Pink Abode‘, a specialized women-only barrack at the Delhi Airport unit on Friday, providing female personnel with a safe and comfortable space equipped with modern amenities to rest during their round-the-clock duties at one of India’s busiest airports.
The pink-themed facility symbolizes the department’s emphasis on gender-sensitive infrastructure and was inaugurated by Special Commissioner of Police Robin Hibu.
“Akshee is a testament to our commitment to employee welfare. It provides our female staff with a much-needed sanctuary to recharge and continue inspiring excellence in service,” Hibu said.
The Special Commissioner added that such initiatives significantly improve workplace morale and dignity.
The air-conditioned barrack features four beds, storage facilities including cupboards and almirahs, a communal dining area, sofa zone, television, and hygienic washrooms. The space is decorated with motivational elements to create a welcoming environment for rest and recreation.
The facility is painted in soothing pink shades and has been thoughtfully designed to ensure privacy and comfort for policewomen stationed at the airport.
Before the inauguration, a ‘Sampark Sabha’ was conducted where Hibu addressed the staff, acknowledged their challenging work environment, and encouraged them to seek leadership support when needed.
The new facility represents a significant step in providing dedicated infrastructure for women personnel in the police force.
