Sainik School conducts inter-house football tournament


Sainik School, Kunjpura, conducted its inter-house football tournament, with enthusiastic participation from cadets of Classes VII to XI. The tournament witnessed teams of 16 players each from all five houses competing fiercely for the top honours. The Kalpana Chawla House, representing the Girls’ House, also actively participated in the competition, highlighting the inclusive and spirited nature of the event.

The final match of the tournament was graced by the Principal, Colonel Vijay Rana, who was the chief guest. He was accompanied by Vice-Principal Wing Commander Manpreet Singh and other teachers who all interacted with the players before the match. The final in the senior category was a thrilling encounter between Thaneshwar House and Kurukshetra House. The match was closely contested, ultimately resulting in a 2-0 victory for Thaneshwar House.

In the junior category, Chillianwala House showcased coordination and skill, emerging victorious with a 3-1 win over Panipat House. Cadet Anshu from Thaneshwar House was adjudged the best player in the junior category for his remarkable performance throughout the tournament.

In the girls’ category, representing Kalpana Chawla House, Chhamb House dominated their match with a clean 3-0 win over Shakargarh House. Cadet Vritika was named the best player for her outstanding display of talent and leadership on the field.

In the senior category, Cadet Vedant Rathi from Thaneshwar House received the best player award for his decisive role in the house’s triumph.

Col Vijay Rana awarded the trophies and certificates to the winning teams and the runners-up.

In his address, he praised the collective efforts of the staff and cadets in making the event a grand success. He highlighted the value of physical fitness, team spirit, and presence of mind, all of which were essential qualities nurtured through such events.
