Rajasthan Royals (RR) have received a massive boost ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, it is learned that the keeper-batter Sanju Samson joined the team after recovering from a finger injury on Monday (17th March).

Sanju Samson faced a finger injury during the T20I series against England earlier this year. The keeper-batter was hit while batting and then underwent surgery for the same. He was then undergoing rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Samson cleared the fitness test for the batting at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru before joining Rajasthan Royals. But there is no clarity if he will be keeping wickets straightaway in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which will begin on 22nd March.

If Samson isn’t fit to keep wickets then Rajasthan Royals has an option in Dhruv Jurel. The keeper-batter has been an integral part of the franchise for the last few years and has played a vital role in the success of the team. He was also one of the retentions of the franchise.

Sanju Samson will be leading Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025

Samson will be leading Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 and it will be a great opportunity for him to bring glory to the team. The franchise won the title in 2008 and, after that, has been failing to set the stage on fire. However, in the last few years, they have been very consistent.

Samson will be entering the IPL 2025 on the back of a poor series against England. The Rajasthan Royals skipper failed in the entire five-match T20I series as he was troubled by the short-pitch bowling, in particular by Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, who clocked consistently over 145kmph.

Sanju Samson is likely to open the innings for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025

Sanju Samson is likely to open the innings for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025. He was offered the opening role for India during the series against Bangladesh in October last year and he didn’t disappoint. He looked in great touch and also slammed one century.

Sanju Samson also opened in the South Africa series, where he hit two centuries. The right-hander will be playing a key role for the franchise this year. He, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top will be crucial for the team’s chances and a lot would be reliant on them. Samson, in particular, would want to make an impact and silence the critics.

Rajasthan Royals will be seen in action on the second day of the IPL 2025. They will be taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday (24th March) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and would be hoping to start the season on high.
