State govt notifies cadre separation in Health Dept – The Tribune

The state government has notified the separation of cadres in the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) to further strengthen the healthcare system.

Employees across various categories, including nursing, paramedical staff, ministerial staff, radiographers, operation theatre assistants, drivers and Class-IV employees, have been given the option to choose their preferred cadre. As many as 74.44 per cent of the staff has opted to join DHS.

A spokesperson of the Health Department said as per the finalised structure, 14,573 employees have chosen DHS, while 5,002 have opted for DME. To address staff shortages, the government will now conduct recruitment separately for directorates, ensuring balanced staffing and improved healthcare services.

He said this strategic decision aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services across Himachal Pradesh.

He added that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had taken several initiatives over the past two years to upgrade healthcare infrastructure. “In the coming months, outdated medical equipment in health institutions will be replaced with advanced technology to further improve medical facilities,” he said.

He said the state government would remain committed to strengthening healthcare services and will continue to implement necessary reforms to ensure accessible and high-quality medical care for the people of the state.
