The government has put the transfer and posting orders of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) in abeyance.
Under the rationalisation process, the Directorate of School Education had transferred surplus TGTs to the schools battling shortage of teachers a few days back. The orders were put in abeyance today following the review meeting of the Education Department. The transferred teachers who had not yet joined at the allotted stations have been asked to join back at their previous place of posting immediately. The orders will not be applicable to the teachers who have already joined their new place of posting.
Following mergers of primary and upper primary schools having inadequate enrolment, the department is also mulling merger of schools at secondary and senior secondary level. “We will take the proposal for the merger of secondary and senior secondary school to the Cabinet. We are finalizing the parameters for it,” said Education Minister Rohit Thakur.
Senior Secondary Schools having students in single digit in Plus 1 and Plus 2 or the schools having less than 25 students from Class VI to Class XII will be merged with the other school within a radius of five km. The parameters will be relaxed further in tribal areas. The schools having extremely low enrolment will be denotified.
There’s also a proposal to merge boys and girls’ schools having low enrolment.
