Wanindu Hasaranga performs ‘Pushpa’ celebration after dismissing Rahul Tripathi

Wanindu Hasaranga unleashed the customary Pushpa celebration on dismissing Rahul Tripathi on the first delivery of his spell during Match 11 of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, March 30.

The slightly shortish delivery stuck into the surface and Tripathi could only manage to pull it to deep midwicket, where Shimron Hetmyer accepted an easy catch. Tripathi was just about settling in to play the big knock. An elated Hasaranga pulled out the viral move from the renowned Telugu movie “Pushpa: The Rise” starring prominent actor, Allu Arjun.

Hasaranga went on to scalp a wicket each in his second and third over. Shivam Dube’s wicket came after the Impact Player registered a four and a six off the first two deliveries before a blinder from Riyan Parag at extra cover. Vijay Shankar was left clueless in Hasaranga’s subsequent over, with the all-rounder getting outfoxed by a wonderfully executed googly.

Earlier in the day, CSK ended up making a great comeback by limiting RR to 182/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs from when the hosts were 123/2 in 11.2 overs. Noor Ahmad and Matheesha Pathirana returned with figures of 2/28 in four overs each. Ravichandran Ashwin proved expensive yet again, conceding 46 runs in his four-over quota.

Hasaranga ended up making only four off five deliveries. He was dismissed with Shankar diving forward to hang on to a stunner. Nitish Rana was the highest-scorer for RR, amassing a power-packed 81 off 36 deliveries. His dazzling innings comprised 10 fours and five sixes.
