NEW DELHI: On the occasion of Ram Navami on Sunday, the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya witnessed a celestial moment as a beam of sunlight illuminated the forehead of the Ram Lalla idol — an event referred to as the ‘Surya Tilak‘.
The divine spectacle occurred precisely at noon, when a focused shaft of sunlight fell directly on the idol’s forehead, forming a symbolic tilak. Visuals from the temple showed priests performing special prayers as the sunlight created the sacred mark.
Massive crowds gathered in Ayodhya as well as in other parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Sambhal, to mark the auspicious occasion. Devotees thronged temples from early morning, prompting authorities to implement extensive security and crowd management measures.
Speaking to ANI, Ayodhya Senior Superintendent of Police Rajkaran Nayyar said, “A large number of devotees are arriving for Ram Navami. We have divided the city into multiple zones and are using drones for surveillance and crowd control.”
Additional SP Madhuban Singh added, “Thousands of people visit the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple on Ram Navami. Adequate police personnel have been deployed to ensure devotees’ safety. We’ve also arranged proper parking facilities to manage the inflow.”
Similar security arrangements were made in Sambhal, where officers were stationed at key religious sites and monitored the situation through advanced surveillance systems.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
“Heartfelt greetings to all countrymen on the occasion of Ram Navami. May this holy and sacred festival of Lord Shri Ram’s birth bring new consciousness and fresh enthusiasm into your lives, and infuse renewed energy into our resolve for a strong, prosperous, and capable India. Jai Shri Ram!”
