The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have won their first game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) by four wickets. It wasn’t supposed to be a thrilling game, but the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and the match went up to the last over. Rachin Ravindra’s responsible knock of 65 runs in 45 balls helped CSK clinch victory.
After the victory, MS Dhoni was seen hitting former teammate Deepak Chahar with the bat in a friendly manner. The bowler hit three sixes with the bat and also drew the first blood of CSK in the second innings. Chahar was in an aggressive mood, and it was clearly evident from the way he played today. The video of this friendly banter went viral on social media.

MI batted first and scored just 155 runs, for the loss of nine wickets, in their 20 overs. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma made a brilliant 51-run partnership in the middle overs, but that wasn’t sufficient. The batters coming below them couldn’t score runs when it was needed the most. CSK’s newest additions, Noor Ahmad and Khaleel Ahmed, claimed four and three wickets, respectively.
When CSK came in to bat in the second innings, Rahul Tripathi, who came in as an impact player, failed to put any impact in the game, getting out on just two runs. Following his wicket, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad walked in and took on MI’s best bowler of the team, Trent Boult. He hit two beautiful boundaries that helped him settle down.

However, the team kept on losing wickets, and this forced MS Dhoni to come out to bat in the second last over. He played just two deliveries, while CSK needed four runs to win. In the first ball of the last over, Rachin Ravindra hit a huge six and clinched victory.
